Hash Generator (SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512)
Generate SHA hashes from text or files in your browser using the Web Crypto API. SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, with copy-ready output.
Hash Generator
Generate SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 digests of text or a file, and verify a checksum.
Hashes the UTF-8 bytes of whatever you type, following the input live.
SHA-256 produces 256 bits (64 hex characters).
How to use
The whole flow runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
- Enter your inputText, or any file from your device in file mode.
- Choose an algorithmSHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 or SHA-512 — all computed with Web Crypto.
- Read the digestsEvery selected algorithm's hash is displayed with its length.
- CopyOne click copies the hexadecimal digest.
- Every step runs locally in your browser.
Key Features
Generate SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes. Everything runs client-side on your own device.
- Native cryptoHashes come from the browser's Web Crypto API — the same primitives used in production.
- Text or file hashingHash a string or verify a downloaded file.
- All algorithms at onceCompare SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 side by side.
- Never uploadedInput is hashed locally; nothing is transmitted.
Frequently asked questions
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, provided by the browser's Web Crypto API. MD5 is deliberately not offered because browsers do not expose it.
SHA-1 is broken for collision resistance, so do not use it for signatures. It is still handy for legacy checksums and file-integrity comparisons, which is why it is included and labelled.
Yes — choose file mode. The file is read locally and hashed on your device.
